The Swift Accelerator Programme provided a fun and engaging environment to develop essential skills, such as programming, design thinking, pitching and UI/UX design. These experiences inspired me to spread my love of coding by volunteering to help out the Class of 2019 and 2020 and, eventually, becoming the assistant trainer of the programme in 2021.

The Swift Accelerator Programme taught me that anything is possible. To be able to learn, from scratch, how to code an entire app and publish it on the App Store ― it’s an experience that I’d recommend to anyone who’s interested in coding! I love the Swift Accelerator Programme. It made me learn a new programming language. This programme was extremely fun and interesting. I learnt new things such as table views, tab bars and collection views. These new skills that I learnt are very helpful to me in developing my own apps. For example, I have created an app based on a CRUD app that I learnt in this programme. I have also gotten to know new people and made new friends. This programme has benefitted me greatly both in the knowledge and social aspects. I hope to be able to return next year to help out.

I think that the programme has deeply influenced on how I think on solving real life problems in the real world and has made me question a lot of things which made me more competent in finishing our app. The programme has honed my skills of coding on Swift on another level. The Swift Accelerator Programme has been an incredible journey, filled with fun and memorable experiences. Over these 8 months, I not only learned how to code in Swift but also had the opportunity to explore storytelling, design thinking, and pitching. However, what truly stood out was the sense of community fostered within the program. I got to meet an amazing group of like-minded individuals who shared similar passions. Working as a team to create our very own app was so much fun as well. Needless to say, YJ’s lessons were super engaging and enjoyable. Being part of the ExCo team and collaborating on planning the Swift Innovators’ Summit has been rewarding and has also taught me a lot.
